Description:

Nearing its 100th anniversary, Colorado Springs' MiLB franchise began in 1918 as the Sacramento Salons in the top-tier Pacific Coast League. But the Sky Sox name dates back to 1950 when the team was the Class A Western League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The Sky Sox's nickname originated with its affiliation with the White Sox.

The Salons moved to Hawaii in 1961, and the Hawaii Islanders enjoyed considerable success in its early history, regularly leading MiLB in attendance year after year. But the franchise couldn't sustain its positive momentum after the team moved from its original Honolulu Stadium home - in a densely-populated area - to Aloha Stadium in west-central Oahu, far from the team's fan base.

After years of declining attendance and financial problems plaguing the franchise, the Islanders moved stateside to Colorado Springs in 1988, and the Sky Sox moniker was reborn at the Triple-A level.

The green-and-black, bat-wielding "Socko" character first adorned Sky Sox caps in the team's inaugural Triple-A season, and later gave way to an interlocking "CS" cap in the team wore until 2008. The current Pikes Peak-inspired, red-white-and-blue identity debuted in 2008.
